Development Coordinator

Job Overview:

Community Lodgings is an Alexandria-based non-profit organization that has been helping local homeless and low-income families for over 30 years by providing a variety of affordable and transitional housing options as well as youth education programs. Our mission is to lift families from homelessness and instability to independence and self-sufficiency. As Development Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting our volunteer program, communications and marketing, and various administrative roles that support the Development Department. The ideal candidate is well organized, works well in teams and independently, and is a creative communicator.

This part-time position is temporary and will be contracted for at least 6 months to 1 year (with an option to extend) at 32 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Assist with donor stewardship efforts via email communications and mailings
• Support volunteer recruitment efforts by advertising volunteer opportunities on various platforms. You may also be asked to attend volunteer recruitment events
• Provide volunteer administrative support by managing the volunteer database, answering volunteer questions, maintaining volunteer timesheets for reporting purposes, and providing volunteers with updates and training opportunities on a regular basis.
• Provide communication and marketing support by assisting with social media posts, creating e-blasts, designing print and media advertisements, and other communications.
• Support fundraising efforts by researching grant opportunities and maintaining a calendar for application deadlines
• Additional administrative support and related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Completed background check
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including but not limited to drafting and editing business letters and documents
• Experience creating and maintaining filing systems
• Working knowledge of software applications such as MS Office Suite,Google Drive, and web-based virtual meeting platforms like Zoom
