    Position Summary

    The Events Coordinator will provide essential support to the growing success of the Walk for 1 in 100 program and launching other peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising events. This position will report directly to the Director for the Walk for 1 in 100 but will work collaboratively across all departments in the organization.

    This is an office-based position with a hybrid schedule, requiring 2-3 days/weekly in our Columbia, MD office.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Event Site Development

    • Participate in annual event operational planning in collaboration with ACHA staff and leadership.
    • Identify and evaluate opportunities for new Walk for 1 in 100 sites and other P2P event sites.
    • Develop, implement, and manage site timelines and benchmarks.
    • Understand site budgets and ensure adherence to approved budgets by tracking all income and expenses.
    • Work with local event site volunteer leaders to recruit committee members, set committee schedules and agendas, and attend meetings.

    Event Logistics

    • Lead event execution, by overseeing all logistics, including permitting, event insurance, rentals, entertainment, security, prizes, supplies, etc.
    • Attend Walk and other P2P events as assigned to this position and lead the day-of execution of the event. Additional travel to key markets may be required to meet with key volunteers, sponsors, team captains and top fundraisers. Weekend travel is required.

    Fundraising

    • Create and implement strategies to increase participation and revenue performance.
    • Support event committee leaders in identifying and securing local in-kind and cash sponsorships.

    Marketing and Communications

    • Work in conjunction with marketing team or outside designers to create and coordinate sponsorship packets and other printed marketing materials and ensure successful distribution to targeted audiences.
    • Oversee incentive program and fulfillment.
    • Create and manage online fundraising websites for each event using a P2P fundraising platform.
    • Engage participants and volunteers on ACHA’s social media platforms.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree required.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in volunteer management or development required, preferably with experience directly related to P2P fundraising.
    • Experience with Classy software or other P2P platforms a plus.
    • Experience in web content management; experience with web development and/or HTML preferred.
    • Capable of building and sustaining relationships with a variety of individuals and organizations.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a vibrant, approachable demeanor
    • Strong written, verbal, and problem-solving skills.
    • Diplomatic and able to work well under pressure.
    • Ability to adhere to timelines and prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Must be able to work nights as needed for walk site committee planning virtual meetings.
    • Must be able to travel about 6-10 weekends a year.

    Position Details

    • Full-time (40 hours/week), hybrid position based in the ACHA office in Columbia, MD
    • In-office presence required 2-3 days per week
    • Travel is required during most spring and fall event weekends – approximately 6-10 weekends per year
