The Mission Society is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to identify qualified

consultants that will design and execute a strategic plan with our Board of Directors,

senior staff, and stakeholder community. The goal of the planning process is to

inform and guide the Mission Society’s organizational and programmatic

strategies for the next three years, and produce metrics to measure our

The Mission Society seeks consultants who demonstrate a strong overall understanding of the

structure and purpose of a community-based, social justice nonprofit focused on

providing transformative educational services to youth and families living in

poverty. The winning candidate will have proven experience with nonprofit

strategic planning and a strong record of producing measurable plans. The proposal

is due January 18, 2022.

ABOUT THE MISSION SOCIETY

For over two centuries, the Mission Society has worked to end multigenerational poverty by

unlocking the potential of the City’s most underserved families. We weave

together academic enrichment, career readiness, and college access programs to

create transformative educational experiences for low-income communities

throughout New York. Since our founding in 1812, we have provided life-changing

opportunities to over 6.5 million New Yorkers.

Today, the Mission Society partners with five K-8 and seven transfer high schools located

in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Our K-8 Power Academy program provides

afterschool and summer enrichment activities focused on literacy, STEAM

education, leadership development, and physical fitness. The Mission Society’s Level

Up program offers over-age and under-credited high school students with

academic persistence, career exposure, and college access services. Together,

these programs inspire over 5,500 students and families each year to both

imagine and realize better futures.
