With free programs beginning in high school and continuing throughout young adulthood, Step Up provides the developmental experiences and relationships needed to overcome gender and racial inequities, close the opportunity gap, create meaningful change in their lives, and ultimately succeed in the 21st century.

Step Up is embarking on a new five-year strategic plan, focused on strengthening existing programs and expanding its footprint nationally through a blended mentorship model of virtual, in person and independent learning methodologies.Position Summary

The Position

The Teen Programs Coordinator, is a key member of the Teen Programs team as we design, create and execute programs for teen girls and gender expansive teens both virtually and in-person. Teen Programs serves high school girls and gender-expansive teens ages 14-18 who may face systemic barriers opening doors to greater personal efficacy, leadership skills and opportunities.This role is ideal for someone who has an interest in working in youth development and/or program planning and facilitation. The role supports much of the coordination of our programs, acts as a front-line staff member for all teens, and is a valued partner in all aspects of program design and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the coordination and communication of all teen participant related program logistics
  •  Coordinate Teen Program activity and engagement in Step Up’s online mentoring platform
  • Support orientation and training of teen program participants for specific programs
  • Support potential program participants through the application process, and follow up communications.
  • Support as facilitator for Teen Programs events and workshops as needed.
  • Create resource guides and coordinate support materials for all Teen Programs events
  • Support teen outreach and recruitment through virtual and in person school events
  • Assist in program monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Participate in cross-organizational working groups as necessary 

Qualifications

  • A self-starter and quick learner; able to take direction and keep projects on track.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team as well as work independently.
  • Experience working with or participating in youth development programs.
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to foster and lead within an inclusive environment.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, as well as strong attention to detail.
  • Experience facilitating groups or leading teams a plus
  •  A Bachelor's degree is great to have, but we are more interested in your total skills, experience, and past contributions
