The Grants Manager facilitates the efficient, effective, and responsible expenditure of grant funds received by United Through Reading while also providing important stakeholder support and project management to the Advancement Department.

REPORTS TO: Lead Director of Grant Development

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure grant expenditure is implemented according to terms of the grant and within the operational and financial needs of the organization
  • Oversee the job of accounting, reporting, and other administrative functions to ensure successful execution of grant process
  • Keep the relevant staff informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables, thereby ensuring smooth completion of work responsibilities
  • Track grant expenditures across the Advancement and Operations teams
  • Work with Advancement and Operations teams to prepare budgets and expenditures in accordance with each grant requirement
  • Work closely with accountant to manage budgets and track expenditures related to restricted grant funds to ensure timely release of temporarily restricted grants
  • Prepare well-structured and persuasive reports for grant-making entities
  • Identify and develop strategies to optimize the grants administration process
  • Monitor paperwork and other related documents connected with grant compliance
  • Provide training to new staff on grants management and reporting requirements
  • Work with staff to create plans to recognize gifts and steward investing partner relationships in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Create and update Salesforce records, as well as create and run Salesforce Reports

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS degree required
  • Demonstrated project management skills with experience in managing administrative projects
  • Experience with basic financial management and associated software
  • Excellent conceptual, written, and oral skills
  • Grant management and stewardship experience preferred
  • Good understanding of the organization's overall business and its objectives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite Applications, CRM/donor databases (Salesforce), and Project Management Software
  • Ability to practice discretion when handling sensitive information for CEO, Board of Trustees, or acting as a conduit between executives, staff, and partners/donors
  • Experience with or knowledge of military culture and customs preferred

Work Environment:

United Through Reading is a virtual organization, most daily tasks are performed from home or personal office space, utilizing online services and video and audio conferencing.

Home or personal office space must have stable broadband Internet access, as well as some storage space for supplies.

Reliable transportation as well as up to date insurance is required to perform (approx. 5-10%) weekly duties.

Additionally, some travel may be needed to support local and national events.
