Miami Program Manager- Youth and Schools Programs

The CLEO Institute exists to improve climate literacy and spur climate action. The Program Manager is passionate about CLEO’s mission and solving the climate crisis. This role focuses specifically on CLEO’s Climate Resilient Schools program, our GenCLEO Youth movement and our summer Climate Action Lab program. Therefore our program manager must be at ease working with youth and have a passion for doing so. This candidate works in tandem with the GenCLEO Youth Movement and the Teacher’s Network,  and directly reports to- the Senior Director of Programs. He/She/They works with other CLEO staff members across Florida, partners, and volunteers to advance the organization’s work. Therefore, having a fundamental understanding of climate science, its urgency, and solutions, is a must. The Program Manager must be able to work evenings and weekends, as needed. Full-time position. Salary $40,000- $55,000 depending on experience. After 90 day probation period, this positions includes a competitive benefits package including Medical/Dental/Vision; summer hours, and generous PTO policy. This role is based in Miami and is not a remote position. We are looking for local candidates.

 Office-related responsibilities

  • Update engagement & website calendars based on program and events
  • Manage coordinator and interns that help with programs
  • Ensure program materials and events are posted shared with appropriate networks
  • Keep detailed records of all program outcomes in Microsoft Suite/ Google Suite

 Programs-related responsibilities

  • Help plan, design, lead and execute the multi-pronged Climate Resilient Schools and CAL summer program, as well as assist with GenCLEO’s & Teacher’s network efforts in Miami.
  • Continue to maintain and build relationships with stakeholders in the community that are key to the schools/ youth programs, and foster new partnerships that can improve programming outcomes (teachers, principals, directors, students, administrators)
  • Analyze feedback surveys, write summary reports, and coordinate follow ups. Ensure programs are meeting grant and organizational goals.
  • Assist with grant research & writing while managing proposals and deliverables, as well as contributing to grant reports.
  • Represent CLEO in the community including attending events and conferences, serving on panels, doing climate presentations, networking, outreach with elected officials, school board members, and media.
  • Co-teach climate leadership trainings & webinars in the community.
  • Help with general event/webinar planning and delivery, and manage event logistics from A-Z.
  • Assist with content development for social media, e-newsletters, etc. regarding programs in collaboration with other staff members.
  • Assist on on-boarding new team members when needed
  • Assist Leadership team when necessary

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral)
  • Keen public presentation skills
  • Dynamic, passionate individual
  • Open-minded candidate with a can-do attitude
  • 2+ years experience managing programs with fixed timetables and defined deliverables & budgets
  • Strong time management skills and excellent follow-through
  • Multi-tasker that is able to pivot rapidly when needed, in a quickly changing environment
  • Ability to work and problem solve with little supervision
  • Fast learner, who can think critically about the programs, and strategize on how to improve outcomes for participants
  • Event planning experience (online and in-person) including but not limited to: scheduling speakers, managing agendas, and hosting events
  • Professional demeanor and approach to working relationships with colleagues as well as program partners
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and populations
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs experience preferred
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Computer skills – experience with Microsoft Office/Google Suite/Apple programs. Must be comfortable using Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish or Creole)
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience managing multiple staff members
  • 2+ years of experience managing youth programs, in schools/ school districts or in the local community
  • Experience with some policy work around issues of climate and equity
  • Experience with equity and diversity issues and their intersection with the climate crisis
  • Connections with local MDCPS schools
