ABOUT CEEJH 

The Center for Engagement, Environmental Justice, and Health (CEEJH, Inc) is a new  nonprofit focused on helping communities impacted by environmental, climate, and  energy injustice with a focus on the Mid-Atlantic region, the Southeast, and other parts  of the United States and beyond.. CEEJH, Inc provides technical assistance and  capacity-building support to help impacted communities address environmental racism,  environmental classism, oppression and related health inequities by following the 17  Principles of Environmental Justice and through INpowerment Science and Liberation  Science. CEEJH, Inc continues the vision of Dr. Sacoby Wilson, one of the nation’s  leading environmental justice researchers, scholars, and advocates to advance  environmental, climate, and energy justice through service and the authentic  engagement of local grassroots environmental justice organizations in community centered, justice-focused applied action-oriented solutions science. CEEJH is about  dismantling racist systems, developing cross-sectoral partnerships, and demanding  change to ensure that frontline and fenceline communities receive the recognitional,  procedural, distributional, and restorative justice that they deserve.  

Position Overview 

CEEJH, Inc is looking for candidates who are well-organized, self-directed, and  committed to excellence. The education coordinator will lead the development and  implementation of all EJ programming with assistance from other team members. The  coordinator must be highly organized, detailed oriented and exceptional in written and  oral communication. The education coordinator will provide technical assistance and  support to community partners including grassroot frontline and fenceline organizations  to help them build their capacity to address their local environmental, climate, and/or  energy justice issues.  

The coordinator is expected to do the following: 

  • Coordinate all educational activities for the organization 
  • Lead the planning and implementation of workshops, seminars, trainings,  symposia, and conferences
  • Lead the development of educational materials for impacted residents and other  stakeholder groups who reside in frontline and fenceline communities
  • Lead planning efforts for the annual CEEJH EJ Symposium 
  • Manage the EJ Summer Scholars Program 
  • Manage the Climate Justice Fellows Program 
  • Support training efforts with organizational partners including community hubs
  • Assist the team with outreach and engagement efforts related to environmental  justice and health issues 
  • Develop outreach materials and infographics on environmental justice and health  issues for policymakers, government agencies, and the lay population
  • Work with the communications director on the development of communication  materials that can be used as educational tools 
  • Provide routine program logistics/maintain requirements or activities to ensure  quality of programs 
  • Support preparation of partnership agreements, IRB applications, and related  documents 
  • Provide technical assistance to community partners and organizations working in  communities that are experiencing environmental, climate, and energy justice  issues 
  • Assist with program planning, development and implementation
  • Lead efforts to evaluate educational programming 
  • Manage other staff, interns, and project personnel  
  • Applicants will also be expected to help with the development of grant proposals,  manuscripts for publication, community reports, and participate in other activities  on an as needed basis 

Minimum 

  • High School Diploma and 5 years of experience in environmental justice related educational programming or an Associate’s degree (MS degree  preferred) in one of the following fields:  
  • Health Education 
  • Environmental Education 
  • Health Literacy
  • Health Behavior  
  • Environmental Justice 
  • Environmental Health 
  • Health Disparities 
  • Community Health 
  • Communications 
  • Journalism  
  • 3+ years of experience developing educational programming on environmental,  climate, and energy justice issues 
  • 3+ years of experience in managing internship, fellowship, and training programs
  • 3+ years of experience organizing workshops, symposia, and conferences
  • 3+ years of experience developing educational programming in STEM
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills 
  • Successful track record working in fast-paced, opportunity-rich environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Teams, etc.)
  • Experience handling confidential information with high level of discretion
  • A friendly, collegial personality with compulsive integrity 
  • Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and  composition 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented 
  • Must be team-oriented, independent thinker, and collaborative 
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions, and experience working in a deadline  driven environment 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to effectively convey information to diverse audiences 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines 
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY 

In this role, the employee may be required to supervise other employees and students.  

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK 

Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Daily  schedule is flexible within the proximity of this time frame, and will be decided in  consultation with the supervisor. This job may require working in the evenings and  weekends including work related to trainings, workshops, technical assistance activities,  and the annual CEEJH symposium.  

TRAVEL 

Occasional domestic travel may be required for trainings, workshops, technical  assistance activities, conferences, and symposia.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

  • 100%FTE, exempt position. Annual gross pay is $65,000 to $85,000 Salary  Negotiable 
  • MSC’s 100% FTE benefits package includes: 
  • 20 days vacation leave per year
  • 13 standard holidays, and 2 personal days per year (your personal days are  designated as your birthday and hire date anniversary, and should be taken  on these dates)
  • 12 sick days per year
  • 1 week paid MSC family and medical leave after one year of service; an  additional week of paid leave for each additional year of service, up to 4  weeks
  • Medical, vision, dental for employees and dependents (Eligible the first day  of the following month from date of hire and requires a per pay period  employee contribution)
  • 100% employer sponsored basic life, short-term and long-term disability  insurance coverage

There will be a probationary period of 3 months for new hires. We believe in fostering a  collaborative and mutually beneficial work environment. During this period, we encourage open communication, feedback, and  support to ensure a smooth transition into the role. 

This role will commence with remote work and may involve occasional in-person team  meetings. The potential for more frequent in-person work at our office will be open for  discussion between the supervisor and the employee, allowing for flexibility and alignment  with individual preferences and team dynamics.
