MANAGER OF FINANCE & OPERATIONS

Responsibilities and deliverables include, but are not limited to:

I.                Financial Management

Supports the CEO in growth and development, leading all financial management activity.

  • Analyzes and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; develops and clearly communicates monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Oversees and leads annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the CEO; administers and reviews all financial plans and budgets; monitors progress and changes; and keeps the Finance Committee abreast of the organization’s financial status.
  • Manages organizational cash flow and forecasting.
  • Day-to-day accounting operations including timely oversight of accounts payable and receivable, and bank deposits.
  • Manages a third party who creates all invoices and maintains records of sponsor contracts.  As required works with online vendor supplier platforms including government portals such as the WAWF.
  • Works with the CPA to prepare the annual tax return.

 II. Operations

Supports the CEO in growth and development, leading all operational activity.

Strategic Planning

  • Working with the CEO, reviews resource requirements, prioritizes initiatives, and changes work flows and work structures as needed.
  • Works with committee chairs to ensure operational objectives are structured in line with the strategic plan. 
  • Works with committee chairs to determine and review Dashboards and KPI’s monthly.
  • Coordinates with the CEO quarterly reviews of the strategic plan.

Resources

  • Development –
  • Supports individual giving efforts with the Giving Team: annual campaigns and ongoing giving efforts.  Provides administrative support for donor recognition.
  • Human Resources (staff) – Coordinates annual team building event (post COVID)
  • Human Resources (volunteers) – Provides support to the volunteer led team.

Administration

  • Schedules and provides support for board and committee meetings.
  • Provides administrative support to the CEO, staff and volunteers as appropriate.
  • Oversees employee policies and procedures, maintains the employee handbook and updates.
  • Works to keep insurance policies up to date and in line with organizational needs.
  • Invoice sponsors & manages the sponsor’s invoice payment process
  • Monitors state and federal tax accounts and works with taxing authorities as necessary to resolve any issues.
  • Processes monthly payroll and manages onboarding of new hires and contractors.
  • Assists collegiate chapters with tax and sponsorship issues.
  • Writes grants for sponsorships and scholarships programs and completes required follow-up reporting.
  • Manages travel and organization credit card expenses, including managing the expense approval process.

Basic Qualifications and Skills:

●     2+ years of relevant finance experience

●     U.S. work authorization 

●     Can pass a background check

●     Can secure a home work environment with reliable, high-speed internet

●     Can support evening hours to be able to meet with volunteer committees

●     Has Quick Books experience

●     Bachelor’s degree

●     Submitted cover letter

●     Has the ability to learn and grow

●     Has a demonstrated tie to the mission of SASE

Preferred Qualifications:

●  Has a strong financial background

●     Proven ability to develop collaborative working relationships with diverse cultures, individuals, and organizations.  Builds enthusiasm and passion for the work.

●  Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build business relationships

●    Proven ability to manage multiple complex programs (prioritize work, manage multiple

tasks and meet deadlines in a time-constrained environment) with minimal supervision

●    Strong proficiency with office suite software (document, spreadsheet, presentation,

etc) and reporting. SASE uses Google platforms, Microsoft programs, Quick Books, and Adobe Acrobat

●     Bachelor’s degree (ideally in finance, accounting, business, nonprofit, or similar area)

●     Ideally has work experience with nonprofit organization laws and regulations in the US

●     We currently operate in Colorado and Ohio and would prefer to have candidate either in Colorado or Ohio, but may make exceptions for candidates who are qualified and have a strong tie to the mission.

Travel Expectations:

●     1 week with the rest of staff for annual national convention, usually held in the 2nd week

of October

●     ~3 days for annual board retreat, usually in the Spring (post COVID-19 concerns)

●     Staff meetings in person (post COVID-19 concerns) up to once a quarter

●     Other travel from time to time (up to 3x / year) for team retreats and other activities

●     COVID vaccination is required for this position

Compensation:

●     Remote, Full-Time

●     $60,000 - $70,000 / year

●     Compensation negotiable if candidate has extensive, relevant experience

●     2-3 weeks of vacation based on years of experience

●     SASE follows Federal Holiday schedule (11 days + Fri following Thanksgiving)

●     All work-related travel will be paid for by SASE
