    The position:

    Under the general direction of the Human Resources Strategic Advisor -Employee Training, Career Development and the Race and Social Justice Initiative, the Human Resources Training & Development Coordinator will focus on expanding and deepening career development opportunities for SHA employees.

    This is a project-based role funded through December 31, 2026.

    The ideal candidate for this position would have:

    • Demonstrated experience providing impactful, accessible, engaging training to people from diverse educational, cultural and professional backgrounds – especially, to staff in frontline public housing property management positions and/or staff in the trades.
    • Expertise in providing training in topics such as: supervisory skills; how to identify your career interests and strengths; interviewing skills; conflict resolution and communication skills; and/or how to get the most out of a mentoring relationship.
    • Passion for and demonstrated experience working actively for race and social justice equity.
    • Ability to manage and juggle a diverse workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
    • Skilled at building relationships and trust with and collaborating with others.

    Not required for this role, but would be helpful: Fluency in Spanish, East African and/or Southeast Asian language

    Required Experience and Education:

    • Four years' experience and/or training in social services, housing, human services or related field; and
    • Bachelor's degree in education, communications, business, public administration, humanities, or related field is strongly preferred; OR, may substitute an additional four years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.

    What will you be doing?

    • Responsibilities for this position will include, but not be limited to:
    • Providing training to help SHA employees become stronger candidates for future supervisory positions within the agency.
    • Bringing back a mentor matching program for SHA employees - with a formal mentor and mentee application and matching process, orientation for mentors and mentees, points of check in to ensure mentor and mentee success in the program, and an evaluation of the process.
    • Providing trainings and workshops to help SHA employees become more able to identify their career interests, skills and strengths, and be more successful in applying for and interviewing for positions in the agency.
    • Providing information sessions to help SHA employees better understand the existing pathways for career development within the agency.
    • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
