Position Overview

City Year Orlando seeks an experienced, collaborative, and innovative Community Partnerships Manager to contribute to our work in establishing, developing, and sustaining partnerships with local organizations and educational institutions. The Community Partnerships Manager is responsible for leveraging new and existing partnerships with a variety of organizations that are focused on serving youth across all the neighborhoods Central Florida as a means of increasing awareness of the opportunity to serve as a member of the City Year Orlando team for young adults ages 17-25. The Community Partnerships Manager will also develop a new strategic partnership plan to ensure City Year Orlando develops deep partnerships with community leaders. This role will be a key partner in City Year Orlando’s larger work and focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

More than 50% of time will be spent in the field developing relationships with other local organizations to increase awareness of City Year Orlando, the other 40-50% will be shared between in office check ins and supporting potential corps members and community partners.

The Community Partnerships Manager will be a member of a team of primary drivers in City Year Orlando’s community branding strategy through the implementation of a strategic outreach plan that leverages the community assets necessary to reach our key target audiences in an effort to raise City Year Orlando’s visibility within Orlando neighborhoods and expand on the goodwill brand our organization has earned through 10 years of service in Orlando. This position will report to the City Year Orlando Executive Director.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership Efforts

  • Identify youth facing organizations (servicing 17-25-year-olds) and educational institutions (colleges/universities and Orange County Public Schools), then execute a plan that will facilitate both organic and systemic recruitment leads to support the local AmeriCorps member pipeline for City Year Orlando.
  • Work alongside Executive Director to develop a new strategic partnership plan to increase the awareness of City Year Orlando’s work in our community.

Community Relations

  • Execute a community impact & outreach plan to build relationships amongst the diverse communities within Orange County that we serve.
  • Promote City Year AmeriCorps member service model within the community
  • Serve as an ambassador of City Year: effectively and concisely communicate the organization’s service, goals and impact to external audiences; model and uphold the values of City Year culture; and inspire others to get involved in and support site-based service and initiatives.

Recruiting

  • Strategically share the corps experience with prospective corps members and partner with our National Recruitment and Admissions department
  • Following up with leads from Power BI software reports and local prospects to ensure they are supported through their application process
  • Outreach to community influencers who serve students ages 17-25, finding opportunities to recruit local corps (community events, community presentations)
  • Track applicants and challenges within field, will report weekly to Executive Director
  • Availability to attend recruitment events/opportunities after normal work hours in community as needed

Qualifications 

  • Degrees in public and/or education policy, education, social work, communications or related field strongly preferred. 
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in recruitment/youth development/community development; nonprofit preferred. 
  • Strong communications, writing, and editing skills to ensure connectivity to mission and appropriate style and usage. 
  • Strategic, analytical approach combined with a strong work ethic and interpersonal professionalism. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and take initiative in managing several projects with the utmost attention to detail.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds, interests, and skills. 
  • Strong affinity to diversity, equity, and inclusion work and practices. 
  • Proven interpersonal skills with an ability to build capacity in peers. 
  • Solution-oriented critical thinker with strong problem solving skills and a positive can-do attitude. 
  • Ability to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment. 
  • Passion for and understanding of City Year’s work within the national service movement and education sphere 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Platforms, including Excel, required
