General Description

Banner Neighborhoods Community Corporation (BNCC), a non-profit, is located in east Baltimore. The BNCC’s mission is to empower east Baltimore communities with life- enriching programs for youth and older adults. We are seeking an energetic, knowledgeable, and collaborative person to help with implementation and management of BNCC’s Banner Seniors Program. 

Currently, Banner Seniors offers housing upgrades and home maintenance to support senior homeowners to age gracefully on place. We are expanding to provide a comprehensive approach to all seniors in east Baltimore to “live out the fullness of life” by adding programing to address isolationism, wellness education, caregiver support, and social service referrals

This position requires excellent organization, communication & problem-solving skills; knowledge of community resources for seniors, prior experience in social service programming, or working with older adults in a direct service setting; and a passion for service.

  • FT 37.5 hours/week; willingness to work some evenings & weekends required
  • The successful candidate will need to complete and pass a background check before being hired.

Duties:

Provide Direct Service Support to Banner Seniors in key areas of “Aging In Place”

  • Assess clients’ needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals
  • Advocate for and help clients get resources that would improve their well-being
  • Help clients work with government agencies to apply for and receive benefits such as Medicare
  • Conduct and organize social events and for Banner Seniors
  • Follow up with clients to ensure that their situations have improved
  • Maintain accurate records and report on clients’ status
  • Evaluate services provided to ensure that they are effective

  • Pays close attention to detail.
  • Is proficient in the use of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with basic office equipment such as fax machines and intercom systems.
  • Exhibits friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Works well with a range of different individuals.
  • Possesses excellent phone etiquette.
  • Is capable of multitasking efficiently on a regular basis.
  • Exhibits strong organizational skills.
  • Communicates clearly, politely, and effectively.
  • Demonstrates ability to think creatively to assist in special event planning and marketing.
  • Is capable of leaving the office to run errands throughout the day.
  • Demonstrates excellent time-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of social media
