Position Summary

NAMI Marin is seeking an individual who can effectively oversee the Family Support Groups & Education Program. This includes but is not limited to promoting a wide selection of Family Support Groups and Family to Family classes to the community of Marin, recruiting a diverse group of facilitators to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate family support, and provide annual reports to the County that evaluate the program’s success in attaining contract performance objectives and meeting service needs of individuals with mental illness and their families. The target population of family programming is Marin County family members who have a loved one experiencing behavioral health challenges, with a focus on family members of clients or potential clients in the Full-Service Partnership programs or elsewhere in the Public Behavioral Health System (the Public Behavioral Health System serves Marin Medi-Cal beneficiaries and low-income uninsured community members with mental health and/or substance use conditions), older adult caregivers who need increased support, and Family members in Marin City, West Marin, and the Canal neighborhood of San Rafael.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit between 30-40 family members from diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds and geographical areas of Marin as well as some individuals familiar with the Substance Use System of Care, to be facilitators for groups. 
  • Coordinate four facilitator trainings throughout the 20-month contract for NAMI National’s evidence-based program of Family-to-Family and Family Support Groups.
  • Coordinate monthly Family Support Groups for an average of 8-12 family members in Spanish.
  • Ensure the family support and education opportunities comply with The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) which requires that all of the County of Marin’s programs, services, and activities be accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities.
  • Develop pre-and-post surveys for facilitators to assess the productivity of the programs and track facilitator progress. 
  • Develop a strategy for print and digital outreach material in both English and Spanish to promote programs to family members and facilitators in the Marin community.
  • Ensure materials for recruiting family members are culturally appropriate and partner with local affiliates to ensure pathways of referrals for facilitator training are clear and accessible.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual - Spanish preferred 
  • 2-5 years of coordination and program management experience
  • Commitment to incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into each and every aspect of the role
  • Extensive knowledge of the County of Marin 
  • Extensive personal knowledge of mental illness and commitment to mental health for all
  • Problem-solving skills and analytical abilities
  • Adaptable, dependable, and able to take initiative
  • Ability to work on deadline
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Project management skills and abilities
  • Strong time management skills and able to work with minimal supervision and direction
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Commitment to incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into each and every aspect of the role
  • Must have own vehicle and valid driver's license 
  • Familiarity with additional NAMI programs and services
  • Identify as a family member of a loved one with mental illness
