Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Institutional Giving Manager will join a small but dynamic team that includes a Development Manager and Communications Manager to help raise more than $3.2 million annually from individuals, events, foundations, and corporations. The Institutional Giving Manager will work closely with the CDO to set and meet ambitious annual institutional giving goals, manage and grow existing foundation and corporate funding, identify and pursue new funding opportunities, and build the overall institutional giving portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Together with the CDO, develop and execute a comprehensive institutional giving strategy, with an emphasis on securing new foundation and corporate grants while retaining and growing existing support.
  • Serve as lead author for grant proposals, interim and final reports, letters of inquiry, concept papers and narratives for application portals.
  • Collaborate with program staff to become thoroughly familiar with GO’s programs and communicate about GO’s work in a compelling manner – both verbally and in writing – to donors and prospects.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to develop expense reports and budgets for grant submissions.
  • Directly manage calendar of grant deadlines and all process timelines to ensure the on-time completion and submission of successful, high-quality applications and reports.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and CDO to steward relationships with current and potential institutional supporters. This includes the preparation of donor strategy and briefings, direct correspondence, attendance at funder site visits and meetings, and follow up.
  • Identify and build a robust pipeline of new institutional funders aligned with GO’s mission and work with the CDO through prospect research and development of an outreach strategy.
  • Manage accurate and up-to-date donor records and reports in Salesforce database, including collaboration with the Development Manager to ensure donor acknowledgement.
  • Keep up to date on fundraising trends and strategies as well as the needs of community stakeholders and funders to build partnerships and identify opportunities.
  • Work with CDO to explore possible public funding opportunities aligned with GO’s mission and program priorities.
  • Support with corporate volunteer engagement and special events as assigned by CDO.
  • Uphold GO Project’s ASPIRE values and equity and antiracism commitment, including: creating an inclusive work environment, executing all programs and projects with an equity lens, and continuously developing your personal understanding of equity and antiracism.

QUALIFICATIONS

A successful candidate has at least 3-5 years of experience in foundation and corporate fundraising and grant writing and demonstrates a combination of the following attributes:

  • Knowledge of foundation and corporate foundation philanthropy, trends in institutional giving, and funding communities; experience in education or youth-based funding a plus.
  • Proven track record in relationship-building, donor cultivation and solicitation and securing support from foundation and corporate sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to listen, question, and synthesize information in a compelling manner for different internal and external audiences.
  • Flexible and adaptable style with the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to prioritize with an analytical, organized, and detail-oriented approach to both fundraising strategy and grants management.
  • Strong follow-through with the proven ability to set and meet deadlines and benchmarks.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Google Suite and experience using a donor CRM to manage projects and information; familiarly with Salesforce a plus.
  • Strong belief in GO Project’s mission and commitment to educational equity.
