Development Director

Second City Canine Rescue (SCCR) is looking for a dynamic, experienced professional to fill the newly created role of Development Director.

This position is primarily responsible for supporting SCCR’s mission of “Rescuing Responsibly” by ensuring that the organization is able to maintain sustainability and growth through its development program. We are looking for an individual who can develop and implement a strategic plan to raise vital funds in a cost effective and time efficient manner.  

Our Development Director will report directly to the Board President and be responsible for:

• Relationships with existing donors as well as potential new donors
• Managing existing grant cycles and seeking out new opportunities.
• Overseeing our “Inner Circle” monthly giving program and working with existing volunteers to continue to grow the program 
• Working with our volunteer teams to implement creative fundraising events
• Building a team to plan and execute our annual signature gala event, Cocktails for Canines 

We are looking for an individual who has a strong passion for animals but experience in animal welfare is not a requirement.  We are specifically interested in candidates with the following qualifications:

• Prior development role with a non-profit organization
• Previous management and leadership experience
• Ability to motivate and manage volunteers 
• Bachelor’s degree or CFRE credential preferred
