WHO WE ARE: FRESHFARM is a nonprofit that finds new ways to connect people to their food through hands-on education, farmers markets, and food distribution programs. Through our Farmer’s Markets and Pop-Up Food Hub, we solve critical problems across our regional food system for a more equitable, resilient, and safe food future. Our Fresh Match program provides a dollar-for-dollar match on federal benefits spent at market, helping shoppers take home more fresh produce and local foods while creating and sustaining new revenue streams for local farmers and food producers. As our Food Access Program Manager, you will play a key role in implementing our food access programs across the region.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: The Food Access Program Manager will work with FRESHFARM’s markets & food access staff to implement local food access solutions in the DMV. With the support of two large grants, this role will also serve as one of FRESHFARM’s leaders within a new regional incentive partner Coalition, ensuring that the organization and our partners fulfill our regional goals:

  • Incentive Program Implementation:
  • Oversee systems to ensure FRESHFARM offers efficient and equitable Federal benefit and incentive processing across our network of farmers markets and farm stands; 
  • Manage FRESHFARM staff compliance with incentive program policies and procedures;
  • Maintain, update, and offer technical assistance for EBT / SNAP point of sale transaction hardware and software;
  • Facilitate distribution and management of incentive program supplies;
  • Incentive Program Coalition Management & Development:
  • Lead coordination of work between Coalition members to improve redemption of SNAP and SNAP Incentives across Coalition outlets;
  • Oversee member onboarding;
  • Incentive Program Data and Financial Management:
  • Oversee systems that ensure FRESHFARM provides timely and accurate reimbursement of incentives to Coalition members, in accordance with applicable funder requirements;
  • Approve FRESHFARM and Coalition member financial reports.


THE DETAILS:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position compensated at $53,000-$62,000, DOE.
  • This role will work Monday - Friday during normal business hours. Some weekend and holiday hours will be required to provide assistance on-site at FRESHFARM and partner farmers markets. Weekly schedules can be adjusted to accommodate.
  • While currently closed except for essential work, this role will be based at the FRESHFARM office. When the office is open, remote work with approval is permitted to accommodate work & personal needs. This role will also need to be able to visit FRESHFARM’s various farmers market locations.


PHYSICAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • No less than 3 years relevant working experience - food systems, nonprofit program management, financial management, coalition or cooperative-based work;
  • High level of Google Office Suite proficiency;
  • Able to occasionally lift/move 30-40 lbs as needed;
  • Able to regularly work in outdoor environment in all-weather conditions;
  • Valid driver’s license & access to personal cell phone required;
  • Ability to independently commute to FRESHFARM and Coalition outlet locations as needed.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

  • All full-time employees receive 72 hours sick leave, 11 holidays (8 hours each), 3 floating holidays, and 80 vacation leave annually (with increases in vacation after 3 years of service), as well as bereavement and parental leave (all paid). Typically, FRESHFARM offices close for a 1 week winter break, which also includes paid time-off for salaried employees.
  • Eligible to enroll in 100% employer covered healthcare, as well as generous employer coverage for vision and dental and employer paid short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, AD&D and an employee assistance program (EAP). Also eligible for enrollment in employee-funded 403b.
  • A stipend to purchase a laptop will be provided, as needed.
