Organization Overview 

The PLAN Action Fund, a 501 (c)(4), was established for the purpose of educational and charitable activities to promote the general welfare of low and moderate income families in Nevada; it is the political arm of PLANevada. In pursuit of this purpose, PLAN Action provides information, resources, training and education, organizing skills, leadership development, lobbying, and electoral advocacy through our members in support of progressive candidates for public office. Centered on the belief that collective action toward common purpose will help create a more just society, PLAN Action is allowed a greater role in lobbying and advocating for the progressive policy change required to make our vision a reality.

Position Overview 


PLAN Action Electoral Organizer

An Electoral Organizer will work with our PLAN Action team to develop and lead an organizing strategy that will help elect progressive candidates, build an engaged volunteer base, and mobilize high opportunity, non white, and low income voters. The Electoral Organizer(s) will work closely with their team to find ways to empower and engage Black, brown, Indigenous, young, and immigrant Nevadans to be actively engaged in our electoral organizing efforts to build a more fair and just Nevada for all. 

Primary Functions 


The Organizer's primary functions are as listed below: 


  • Drive the implementation of campaigns while working with team members, key stakeholders, and external partners to increase voter turnout through phone and text banking, canvassing, relational & digital organizing, and other tactics. 
  • Support the training and leadership development of community members directly impacted by issues PLAN Action is working on through one-on-ones.
  • Seek out opportunities to base build and strengthen the political power of the progressive movement through events, mobilizations, and other activities as part of our campaigns.
  • Help coordinate, plan, and execute internal & external meetings, trainings, and events.
  • Work closely with PLAN Action’s Field Manager and the rest of the team to move the mission of PLAN Action forward.


Qualifications 


The ideal candidate will possess many, if not all, of the following qualifications: 

  • A strong commitment to racial equity and social justice with the ability to talk about identities such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, or gender in plain, specific terms. 
  • Has, or can create, a system for keeping tasks from slipping through the cracks with the ability to work independently or in a team setting  
  • Able to juggle competing demands and prioritize without sacrificing the quality of work. This requires the ability to plan backward to make deadlines and ask for help when needed.
  • Develop mission-driven and people-centered plans with their direct support and team to get to the finish line, especially when things get hectic.
  • Enthusiasm for meeting and engaging with people, especially those communities we work with directly and ensuring it is done in a culturally competent manner 
  • Able to put people at ease through strong listening skills, especially when there are lines of difference, and understanding the needs and concerns of others. Then taking the needed steps to adjust campaign plans based on input. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new technical skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills in person, on the phone, and in writing. Not fazed by going door to door, phonebanking, or problem-solving. 
  • Familiar with a diverse range of organizing tactics
