About Us

The Arizona Donor Alliance is a member based funding collaborative. Its members are passionate about and committed to the strengthening and long term success of the statewide progressive infrastructure. 

The AZDA’s role is to have a birds eye view of the work happening on the ground across the state. Based on strategic analysis, the AZDA uses pooled, aligned, and donor directed contributions to fill funding gaps in the already existing progressive infrastructure . 

Position Summary 

The Membership Director of the AZDA is primarily responsible for the identification, growth, and retention of the organization’s local donor membership base. The Membership Director works closely with the Executive Director to develop and execute a strategic plan aimed at exponentially increasing membership numbers year over year. Members are donors , therefore this is simultaneously a fundraising position.   

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and execute annual local member growth plan

  • Conduct research, outreach, and recruitment of in-state donor-members.
  • Support current donor members in their relational organizing efforts including but not limited to prospect outreach, recruitment and hosting of successful events.

Develop and execute annual local member engagement and retention plan

  • Foster the retention of new and existing donors throughout the year in accordance to strategic plan 
  • Create engagement opportunities including relevant reports, briefings and other supplemental fundraising materials. 
  • Forge and maintain relevant relationships with AZDA stakeholders as needed 
  • Manage contractors hired to assist in this area of work 

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Represent the Alliance in meetings and discussions of state and national collaborations as appropriate.
  • Support in the management and development of a strong and effective board as needed.
  • Manage the Board. Set board schedule, manage and support Board chairs in agenda creation as needed.
  • Assist in supporting board members one-on-one to be successful in their role and ensure they are having a meaningful experience.
  • Lead recruitment and onboarding of new board members.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated commitment to progressive values, volunteer experience in BIPOC lead organizations or campaigns 
  • Expert relationship builder with ability to build strong relationships quickly, including
  • with staff, funders, and external allies and partners.
  • Strong people skills, and ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, including public speaking.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage several projects at once.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently.
  • Assertiveness and tact in handling confidential, sensitive issues and documents.
  • Experience using and maintaining databases to track/report on contributions and finances.
  • Basic familiarity with 501(c3), (c4), PAC and 527 entities, understand distinctions & regulations preferred.
  • Experience with event planning and/or scheduling a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic & sense of humor.

Reports to: Executive Director

Based in: Arizona , Phoenix Metropolitan Area

Start date: As soon as possible

Travel: Some travel by plane may be required

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Transportation: must have a driver’s license and reliable car or mode of transportation
