Music Teacher (Prek-5th Grade)

Responsibilities

-The Instructor embodies music education in a positive way and is responsible for creating a culture of music in the school as well as a valuable student lesson experience filled with movement and creativity and social emotional learning.

The Instructor is responsible for all music and education-related elements within the lessons

-The Instructor creates a dynamic lesson experience to ensure their students are challenged and inspired.

-Be sure students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs.

-Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.

-Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows.

-Communicate regularly with parents and admin/teachers on progress of students after lessons

-Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school 

-Adheres to COVID19 regulations and sanitation.

-Ideal hours: 9-2 PM and/or After School hours 

Qualifications

2 + years’ experience teaching and/or performing music professionally

Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design

Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of students, teachers and administration

Strong organizational skills

Motivated, self starter

Very strong kid relations skills

Resourceful and good problem-solver

Works well under pressure

Ideal candidate is a working musician who also has formal music school training, and experience with students as young as 3 years old.

Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and a  positive demeanor for students.

Bilingual preferred

Qualified candidates will be required to provide at least 2 references.

Those invited for an interview are required to present a mock music lesson (15 minutes). 

Candidates must be full vaccinated against COVID-19 and show their vaccination cards. 

Candidates who do not have have a valid status for classroom teaching from the NYC Department of Education (DOE) will be asked to undergo a fingerprinting and background check by the NYC DOE PETS system. Only those cleared by the DOE  are eligible for hire at Keys 4 Success.
