About Irish Community Services and the Immigrant Family Support Program

Irish Community Services (ICS) is a not-for-profit immigration and social services provider, serving the Irish community of Chicago and the Midwest. Since its founding in 1998, the organization has grown to provide a comprehensive array of services to the elderly and a full range of immigration and naturalization services. Our mission is to serve, empower, and connect the Irish and Irish American community of the Midwestern United States. ICS works with a diverse array of people and families from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

In partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Services, and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR); ICS coordinates the Immigrant Family Support Program.

 This program offers cash assistance to immigrants who:

·    Have lived in Illinois for at least 6 months

·    Make below 200% of the federal poverty line 

·    Are NOT ELIGIBLE for ANY public benefits.

 

Job Summary

Irish Community Services (ICS) is seeking an approachable, detailed-oriented individual to facilitate its

Immigrant Family Support Program. This program helps clients to apply for state-provided financial assistance.

Reporting to the Immigration Program Coordinator, the Immigrant Family Support Program Coordinator (IFSPC) will communicate directly with clients via phone and email to help them to file applications for assistance. The IFSPC will screen applicants for program eligibility and work with clients to compile and submit required documentation. The IFSPPC will coordinate the in-person pick up of financial assistance to successful applicants.

The ideal candidate will have the high-level organizational skills necessary to manage multiple applications simultaneously and an ability to communicate clearly and empathically with families in need.

The program serves a diverse range of immigrant families. The IFSPC position requires fluency in both Spanish AND English.

The IFSPC will be committed to serving Chicagoland’s immigrant and refugee community as well as getting results in a fast-paced environment. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn about and engage various ethnic and low-income communities, empowering those in need.

Full training on the assistance program and the application process will be provided.


Job Responsibilities.


The Immigrant Family Support Program Coordinator will:

·        Collaborate with the Immigration Program Coordinator to direct the Immigrant Family Support Program.

·        Communicate with clients and help them to apply for IFSP assistance.

·        Process applications and clients’ supporting documents.

·        Provide clients with intake documents and ensure that they are properly completed.

·        Comply with funder guidelines for portfolio quality and requirements. Safeguard the content and confidentiality of files.

·        Help staff to deliver cash assistance to clients.

·        Maintain accurate and organized files and records.

·        Guide and monitor program activities to ensure compliance with all service contract requirements, including the submission of accurate, timely programmatic reports to funders.

·        Collaborate with the ICS team to design and implement new strategies for the IFSP.

·        Build relationships with community partners to ensure coordinated delivery of effective and efficient services.

·        Oversee data collection and evaluation efforts for programming.

·         Listen and advocate on behalf of team members and clients.


Key Competencies

We’re seeking candidates who are passionate about working with immigrant communities, demonstrate initiative and critical thinking skills, are strong communicators, and excel in relationship building.

 You should have/be:

·        An understanding of cultural competence.

·        Bilingual in Spanish and English required. Spanish language proficiency will be tested.

·        Ability to conduct legal or business operations in Spanish.

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·        Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

·        Ability to work with diverse populations.

·        Exceptional organization and time management skills.

·         Experience facilitating programs, projects, and processes.

·         Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and Windows OS.

·         Strong organizational and communication skills; self-disciplined with an ability to meet deadlines.

·        High school diploma, some college education preferred.


Hours & Pay Scale: This is a short-term (3 months) part-time (20 hours per week) contractual position with a non-negotiable hourly wage of $25. The role may potentially be renewed for an additional 8 weeks depending on funding.

This position does not offer health insurance or other benefits. Working days may vary depending on program operations.
