The Program Director is broadly responsible for the intern program and for overseeing programming activities. The Program Director reports to and works closely with the Executive Director to ensure the resounding success of the program.


This is a year-round position; PTDC’s “busy season” is May - August. PTDC is open to offering a flexible schedule during academic sessions for current graduate students who can be available full-time during busy season.


Key Position Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting – Develop an annual recruiting plan to recruit interns and house pastors for summer program. Maintain and develop relationships with churches and campus ministries, seeking opportunities for new relationships. 
  • Intern Supervision – Interview, hire, train, supervise summer interns. Schedule roommates, negotiate conflicts, create work teams, and evaluate interns’ performance. Coach and counsel interns in a calm and mature manner.
  • Food Program Management – Manage the summer food program and supervise any part-time food program staff.  
  • Reading Program Oversight – Develop, prepare, and assess forms, records, charts, and other materials. Train, coach, supervise, and support reading coordinators. Gather and process reading data and reading and educational resources. Oversee tracking of reading outcomes through the Reading A-Z System. Develop and maintain site libraries and coordinate book donations. Assist with management of volunteer projects related to libraries and curriculum resources. 
  • Community Life – With Executive Director, oversee community housing activities (i.e. worship, community dinners, devotions, chores, weekend activities, etc.). Attend intern dinners throughout the week to make announcements, interact with interns, and provide counsel. 
  • Churches and Community Partners – Communicate with churches to share Project Transformation’s mission and seek volunteers, potential interns, and additional support. Assist with the creation and maintenance of the PTDC website and promotional videos as it relates to recruiting activities. 
  • Operations – Assist Executive Director in ensuring compliance with company goals, objectives and budget. Assist with grant writing. 


QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:


  • Bachelor’s Degree required; current graduate students are encouraged to apply as Project Transformation can offer flexible hours during the academic session  
  • Understanding of youth development levels, specifically those in urban communities, knowledge of Social and Emotional Learning, and Restorative Justice Practices
  • Leadership experience with Project Transformation or in the church, nonprofit/public sector, or private sector
  • Evidence of ability to build strong relationships and effectively communicate with young adults, staff, and community partners
  • Strong presentation skills and experience in public speaking 
  • interpersonal skills that include the ability to inspire and motivate
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities; ability to be flexible and toggle among multiple projects 
  • Integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission
