The Position

The Learning Events Manager is responsible for managing the Out & Equal  Workplace Summit workshop logistics, along with other key leadership development offerings. This will be a public-facing role. Relationship-building skills, acute attention to detail, project management skills and enthusiasm for the organization’s vision and mission with corporate change agents are essential to success. This position reports to the L&D Senior Director. This is a remote position, with California Bay Area or DC Metro Area preferred. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Event Support (Summit, ExFo) - 50%

  • Oversee communication and arrange logistics for Workplace Summit workshops which are submitted by representatives in the LGBTQ+/ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion field from hundreds of Fortune 500 and other major employers —including managing the call for proposals and selection processes, tracking and updating the schedule, managing presenter communications, managing the room assignment process, etc.
  • Liaise with the Corporate Engagement team to provide support to partners submitting workshop proposals
  • Oversee communication and arrange logistics for Executive Forum sessions—including working with Events team on the registration and cohort selection process, managing presenter communications and room assignments, tracking and updating the schedule, etc.
  • Coordinating with Events team for a/v and other needs for in-person educational programming.
  • Steward speakers for premier sessions and other special events, including invitations, preparatory meetings, and other follow-up
  • Assist with general event organizing and execution (virtually or onsite) as assigned
  • Maintain database of Out & Equal speakers and presenters

Leadership Development - 40%

  • Support the grants and other special projects and educational programs by stewarding speakers, managing invites and applications, maintaining minutes, and tracking participant progress
  • Develop resources and execute program offerings, including career accelerator networks, to maximize impact for underrepresented LGBTQ+ leaders and DEI practitioners  
  • Maintain budgets and track expenditures for reporting purposes
  • Keep updated records via Salesforce
  • Manage and interpret program data and collection for weekly, monthly, or quarterly reports to share with senior staff, funders, and other stakeholders for ongoing evaluation
  • Seed and manage community discussions on the Global Hub.

Other - 10%

  • Participate in team meetings, staff meetings, and all major organizational events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 6 years of relevant job experience.

Desired Skills and Experience
As an incoming L&D Manager, you will ideally possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree
  • 8 years’ or more of relevant work experience in non-profit program management, workplace DEI efforts, or leadership development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Public speaking skills as an ambassador to the organization for in-person and virtual engagements
  • Ability to successfully prioritize, manage, and execute multiple projects with accuracy while balancing multiple programs and timelines
  • Experience with grant administration and management.
  • Full fluency and abilities to produce reports and analysis across Microsoft Office suite, namely well-designed PowerPoints; organized Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets. Experience with Salesforce is also a strong plus.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; ability to collaborate across the organization. This includes being a self-motivated learner as you enter the organization (e.g. leveraging your access to O&E resources to learn the style of communications to corporate partners, SME development, and more).
  • Superior organizational skills with high attention to detail and ability/desire to multi-task.
  • Experience developing creative approaches to difficult communications challenges.
  • Flexible and adaptable thinker, open-minded problem-solver with an ability to produce results despite changing or ambiguous circumstances, adaptive and willing to take on a variety of new assignments.
  • Integrity, judgment, and discretion: Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • A strong commitment to using intersectional approaches to promote Out & Equal’s mission of workplace inclusion for all; experience with LGBTQ issues and communities a plus.

Work Environment: Out & Equal is currently fully remote, except for occasional travel to events and in-person meetings (subject to change).

Travel Required: < 20%, subject to change
