Internships are offered by Host Companies selected by IHC and designed to provide a substantive experience that allows the intern to gain a greater understanding of affordable housing and meet mutually agreed upon goals for the summer. Host Companies hire and employ interns directly.
Through the ELI program, interns have the opportunity to work with professionals at established organizations within the industry to explore affordable housing as a potential career path and begin to build a network with colleagues at their host companies and across the intern cohort. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 35 hours each week and participate in additional programming offered by IHC.
IHC supplements the internship experience by providing weekly programming such as lunch and learns focused on various aspects of the industry, trainings, and property tours. This allows the interns to gain a deeper look at the industry beyond their role at the host company. After completing the ELI program, interns receive complimentary registration to the annual conference and IHC student membership for one year. IHC is available throughout the internship to support Host Companies and Interns to ensure a meaningful and rewarding experience for all. Learn more.
