Internship Changing the Funding Paradigm

Catalyst 2030 is a global movement of over 1,400 social entrepreneurs and social impact actors from Ashoka, Echoing Green, the Schwab Foundation, the Skoll Foundation and other global networks of social entrepreneurs. The movement was founded in response to research carried out by the Social Progress Imperative which showed that, at the current pace of progress, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) would only be achieved in 2074. Catalyst 2030 members believe that with collaboration this pace can be greatly accelerated, and that by joining forces, greater impact can be achieved in a shorter time scale.

There are many barriers stalling global progress towards achieving the SDGs. At the heart of these barriers sits an outdated and flawed funding system; one which fails to allocate resources to systems change initiatives and to those best placed to achieve the SDGs - social entrepreneurs.

The Catalyst 2030 movement adopts a collaborative systems change approach. This is an approach to transparently mobilise a diverse set of actors in order to collectively imagine and create positive, systemic change. Our role as a facilitator of collaborative systems change provides us with a uniquely elevated view of the actors and initiatives that are underway to shift the needle in changing the funding landscape. Working from this unique viewpoint, Catalyst 2030 can play a significant role in cohering these interrelated initiatives and stakeholders, weaving them together into a collaborative approach to systems change. In doing so, we aim to unite individual efforts and harness the power of the collective towards shifting the funding paradigm.

In brief, the movement is operating on every level: local, national, regional and global. It aims to strengthen collaboration across and between civil society, multilateral organisations, social entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, impact investors, governments and funders. The goal is to scale up already existing, proven, successful solutions for systemic change and thereby accelerate the impact that will help us reach the SDGs by 2030.

Catalyst 2030 offers the Intern the opportunity to work with young people from various countries, and to challenge themselves within the context of a vibrant and growing organisation. The ideal candidate is a masters student or currently graduated with a background in international relations / affairs, international law, international development, social sciences or similar.

We are working on a developing strategy to bring together many actors and their initiatives from across the globe who are working to challenge the current funding paradigm and status quo.

Who we are looking for:

This role will help us to research and inform our strategy to shift the current funding paradigm, help us to manage the process of sharing it amongst our membership, and support the key practitioners who bring leadership to it. You should have an interest in financing and fundraising for social causes and for a movement of changemakers helping to get the world on course to a more sustainable future.

We are looking for somebody who is task orientated, eager and ready to jump into our team and support. You will have the ability to carry out desk research and assimilate information from a variety of sources to help us understand the current landscape, develop and lead our strategy for change. potential partners. bring ideas and solutions to the table, to help us build our fundraising department and grow support for the movement.

Responsibilities:

• Gain support from members and member collaborations for the strategy
• Work with the membership to encourage participation with the network
• Coordinate the content development for webpages to house the strategy and be a
• repository for output such as reports, tools, educational content etc
• Keep associated resources up-to-date
• Support integration with Salesforce so that we can map activity and run reports
• Support the convening of leadership for the strategy by organising meetings, events and
• providing full administrative support
• Attend collaboration meetings for shifting the Funding Paradigm and New Economies

• Requirements and Skills:
• An active interest in global issues and challenges, their complexity and nuances;
• Proactive in seeking out solutions and pre-empting challenges;
• Ability to work in a multicultural and global digital environment and demonstrate cultural

• Proven organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced

• Ability to summarise information and present this in clear and compelling way;
• Familiar with Microsoft Office tools and platforms such as Zoom, Zoho and Salesforce;
• Excellent communication and social skills and the ability to work in a multicultural setting;
• Preferably available immediately for a minimum of six months (part-time negotiable) with
• the ability to work remotely.
