Engagement Intern -- Fall 2022

The World Justice Project's Engagement team is seeking a full-time or part-time intern at WJP's office in Washington, DC for an initial four month period (September-December), with the option for extension into 2023 based on performance and program needs. The intern will work in collaboration with the WJP Engagement team to connect and build an engaged global network of policy-makers, thought leaders, and activists to advance the rule of law through strategic partnerships, convenings, and support for locally-led initiatives. This is an academic credit or paid internship.

 

WJP maintains a hybrid in-office/remote work schedule. Staff are expected to be located within commuting distance of our DC office and to work from the office at least three days per week. 

 

Responsibilities: The Engagement intern will report to the Program Associate for Engagement. The intern will support the continued development and execution of WJP's rule of law engagement strategy. The main responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

·      Support the expansion of Engagement outreach activities and the dissemination of WJP research and data to policy-makers, development agencies, rule of law implementers, and the broader rule of law movement, including through the development of outreach tools, lists, and forums to reach and engage these audiences; 

  • Assist in executing the engagement strategy for ongoing WJP initiatives, including the dissemination of WJP’s 2022 Rule of Law Index in October;
  • Provide support for the cleaning and updating of WJP's Salesforce database; 
  • Promote rule of law knowledge by supporting the publication of WJP blog posts, podcasts, newsletters, and other communication products; and 
  • Provide administrative and research support to the Engagement team, as needed. 

Qualifications: This position is open to current students (B.A. or M.A.) and recent graduates (B.A. or M.A.). The ideal candidate will have completed coursework in international affairs, social sciences, journalism, economics, policy studies, regional studies, comparative politics, pre-law, or similar fields. Successful applicants will be highly motivated individuals with a strong academic track record, previous office experience, and an enthusiastic interest in rule of law. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:

  • Understanding of rule of law issues in global contexts;
  • Superior research skills, sound analytical skills, and excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent writing, oral communications, and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in Outlook, digital communications and social media management;
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms such as Salesforce;
  • The ability to work independently as well as in group settings, the ability to manage their own workload, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Ability to speak and write in a language other than English (preferred);
  • Commitment to the WJP's mission and principles (worldjusticeproject.org).
