EcoAgriculture Partners is a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, engaged in research and advocacy for impact in agriculture and rural development. Specifically, EcoAgriculture Partners strives for a world where agricultural communities manage their landscapes as ecoagriculture, to enable them simultaneously to enhance rural livelihoods, conserve biodiversity and ecosystem services, and sustainably produce crops, livestock, fish, and fiber. 

EcoAgriculture Partners is the convener of 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People (1000L), a radical collaboration of change agents working together to accelerate landscape efforts to sustain and restore ecosystems, build rural prosperity and confront climate change.

The position

Reporting to the Director for Finance and Policy, the intern will support the Finance and Policy activities for EcoAgriculture Partners and 1000L over a negotiable period between September and December 2022.  

The intern’s main responsibilities may include those listed below, among others as they arise:

  • Support research on innovative landscape finance mechanisms (including development banks, use of grant facilities, public-private landscape funds, green bonds, place-based development banks, etc.)
  • Backstop work with landscape partnerships to develop landscape finance strategies
  • Following up to the development of a strategy to engage businesses with landscape-scale approaches (dependent on intern skills and interest)
  • Various research, communications and administrative tasks as assigned


The Finance and Policy intern will regularly interact with program staff to gain an introductory understanding of international rural development and finance, integrated landscape management, and international policies related to agriculture, ecosystem restoration and biodiversity. They will also meet weekly with the Finance and Policy team for feedback, to monitor the status of projects, and to develop and pursue a mutually agreed upon project of their own design.


This is a remote internship.


Requirements

  • College senior, grad student, or recent graduate with background in studying environmental studies, agricultural development, economics, business, finance, policy or a related subject;
  • Excellent research and writing skills;
  • Strong multi-tasker able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Flexible and willing to learn

Desired

Professional fluency in Spanish or French.
