Beyond100k

To solve the world's most pressing problems, we need all of tomorrow’s problem-solvers to be equipped with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) knowledge, skills, and inspiration. And tomorrow’s problem-solvers need excellent STEM teachers today to guide them. Beyond100K, formerly 100Kin10, united the nation’s top academic institutions, nonprofits, foundations, companies, and government agencies to prepare over 100,000 new STEM teachers for classrooms around the country by 2021. To do this, we built a new type of networked-impact effort that rethinks how organizations collaborate, learn from one another, and together identify and tackle challenges that none could successfully address on its own.

The Next Generation - Having met this ambitious goal, we undertook a massive, diverse, participatory process to hear from nearly 600 young people, particularly Black, Latinx, and/or Native American young people because they are the most marginalized in the field, about their experience in STEM education to understand and set our goal for the next decade. Guided by the insights from their stories, we set a new Moonshot goal focused on Black, Latinx, and Native American teachers and students. By 2032, our goal is to prepare and retain 150K new STEM teachers. We’ll support our network in their quest to prepare teachers who reflect and represent their students and to cultivate workplaces and classrooms of belonging, creating the conditions for all students to thrive in STEM learning.
