COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORK
Orphanage Care
In Ghana many children end up in orphanages for several reasons. Often when both parents die, the remaining family members are not able to afford to take care of the children. In other instances after giving birth if the parents cannot afford to pay the hospital bill, they will leave before this is necessary, abandoning the child. Other children will have been left to die by their mothers, on the street or in rubbish dumps, but having been found in time have been brought to hospital and, if they survive, to the orphanage.
Working with one of our partner orphanages in either a rural or urban area. You will work to take care of the children’s needs such as preparing food, playing with them, bathing them and helping to take them to school and complete their homework. You can either choose to work in a small orphanage with around 15 children or in one of the larger orphanages where there may be up to 150 children.
