Overview:
Get into the holiday spirit while supporting 150+ local vendors, makers, and community partners at the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s 8th Annual Wallabout Wonderland Holiday Market! We're seeking friendly, reliable volunteers to help bring this beloved community event to life.
This year’s market features local artisans, minority- and women-owned businesses, games, crafts, live activities, food, music, and more—plus special partnerships with The Lay Out and Made in NYC.
Responsibilities:
Vendor & Visitor Support
- Greet guests and provide event information.
- Direct attendees to vendor areas.
- Assist youth vendors, small businesses, and partner tables.
- Help with booth setup, signage, power access, and table layout.
Family Corner Support
- Help run kids’ craft tables.
- Assist with puppet show seating and flow.
- Support Brooklyn Book Bodega book giveaways.
Photo Experience + Activities
- Manage holiday photo line and crowd flow.
- Assist with Sip & Ugly Sweater DIY party setup.
- Support archery and pickleball activity zones (no experience required).
Bloom Bar & Café Assistance
- Help with line management.
- Offer guest guidance at The Bloom Bar and Dash & Co. Café.
Entry & Safety Support
- Direct guests through bag-check procedures.
- Communicate security protocols to attendees.
Stage Operations / Run of Show Team (Must-Have)
- Maintain the event schedule and cue the host.
- Coordinate transitions between panels and sessions.
- Manage microphones, timers, slides, and video playback.
- Communicate with tech team for any adjustments.
- Ensure no session exceeds its allotted time.
Social Media / Content Capture Team
- Capture behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and crowd moments.
- Film short videos for Instagram/TikTok/Stories.
- Support live streaming (if applicable).
- Collect attendee testimonials and visual content.
- Coordinate with the photography team to avoid duplication.
General Floaters (On-Call Support) (Must-Have)
- Fill in temporarily for any role experiencing heavy load.
- Assist with last-minute material delivery.
- Provide rapid response to unexpected needs.
- Support overall event flow wherever needed.
Ideal Volunteers:
We’re looking for individuals who are:
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable.
- Comfortable interacting with the public.
- Able to be on their feet for portions of their shift.
- Passionate about community events, small businesses, or the arts.

- All bags are subject to security checks. Large bags will not be permitted.
- This is a non-smoking event.
- By participating, you acknowledge that photos or video may be captured for promotional use.
