Camp Quest Smoky Mountains is a secular, gender inclusive, residential camp for children and youth ages 8-17 held one week each summer. We provide an educational adventure shaped by fun, friends, and freethought, featuring science, natural wonder, and humanist values.
Camp Quest Smoky Mountains is staffed and run entirely by adult volunteers (ages 18 and up) who take a week off of work or school to guide, challenge, listen to, chase after, and play outside with a big group of energetic, freethinking kids (and adults!). Most Camp Quest volunteers love the experience so much that they keep coming back year after year.
CQSM currently seeks a Medical Officer with background in nursing, medicine, or as an EMT or similar. The Medical Officer distributes camper medications throughout the day, handles minor camper injury and illness, and advises on when campers need to be transported, taken to urgent care, or sent home. When not busy with camper ailments, the Medical Officer usually participates in camp activities and helps supervise campers, but they receive breaks each day. Additionally, advanced medical/nursing students who need time to study can take free time for that. We are happy to complete volunteering paperwork (up to 102 waking hours) if needed for an academic or other program.
Please note that all summer staff positions are unpaid, one-week volunteer positions. Staff must also arrive at camp a day early (Saturday) for orientation and additional training. Staff members are responsible for getting themselves to and from camp. Meals and housing are provided. Background checks are performed on all staff members.

Camp takes place about an hour east of Knoxville in the Smoky Mountains. We only share the exact location with accepted volunteers and registered families for security reasons. Carpool can be arranged from the Knoxville area (and possibly nearby areas) if the volunteer isn't able to provide their own transport.
