Light Upon Light Event Volunteer for Human Appeal

We are recruiting for volunteers for a special event with Mufti Menk to help provide homes for people displaced in Syria.

Venue: ExCel London, 1 Western Gateway, London, England E16 1XL

Commitment: 1 event only on the 27th night of Ramadhan (27th or 28th of April dependent on the commencement of Ramadhan)

Shifts: 4pm – midnight or 6pm - 10pm

Expenses: This is an unpaid position, but we do reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses such as travel and fundraising costs in accordance to Human Appeal’s expenses policy. Food will be provided on the day to all volunteers.

After a decade of conflict in Syria, over 6 million people are still displaced in their own country. Many are living in tents that don’t protect them from the bitter winters and brutal summer heat. Human Appeal are sponsoring the Light Upon Light event with Mufti Menk and need your help to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Main tasks

• Manning Human Appeal stalls across the venue
• Answering queries from members of the public about Human Appeal and the Syria Homes project
• Recruiting members of the public to join Human Appeal as volunteers
• Handing out and reviewing pledge forms from members of the audience
• Bucket collections during the beginning and end of the event
