Deliver Food to Unhoused Kids

Summer is here but it will be over (too) soon and we're gonna need a record number of volunteers this 2022-23 school year! We are powered by over 100 weekly volunteers with our first official shift starts Sept. 15 with fun one-off stuff up until then :) Help us hit the ground running!

Drivers will deliver bags of 9 meals from our warehouse to one or more of the 78 K-12 schools we work with. Feel the wind in your hair, put on KEXP, and make a direct impact with that minivan you never drive.

Our mission is to end weekend hunger in Washington State. By delivering bags of food to schools, we feed nearly 3,000 unhoused students per week to help them make it from Friday lunch to Monday breakfast without a single growl.

We have routes to Renton, Laurelhurst, Bellevue, and everywhere in between. We will work with you to assign you a school close to your home.

Drivers arrive between 9:00 and 10:30 am each Thursday, grab a clipboard with their assigned school, grab a coffee and head out. You’ll typically return with the crates we store our food bags in.

Our warehouse is located near Showbox Sodo, Filson, and Krispy Kreme on 1st Avenue South Seattle.

Please consider becoming a weekly driver for Backpack Brigade. With recent expansions into new districts, we are at our limit and don’t have the heart to turn anyone away. Do something for the most vulnerable in our community today!
