Be the Reason They Graduate - Tutor with Dyslexia Tutoring Program!

Dyslexia Tutoring Program (DTP) provides free one-on-one tutoring, professional assessments, and other services to low-income children and adults with dyslexia or language-based differences in greater Baltimore. Since 1985, we have helped thousands of individuals learn how to read and live with hope. All of our tutors are volunteers.

Our volunteer tutors are the backbone of our core mission: to teach dyslexic learners how to read. As a volunteer tutor, you receive 30 hours of Level I Orton Gillingham training - a structured, multisensory approach to reading, writing and spelling - to prepare you to work with dyslexic learners. This training is provided free of charge in return for a commitment to tutor a student in our program at least once a week for a total of 60 hours. Training courses are held 4-6 times a year; we'll be happy to let you know our upcoming course schedule.

After completing the training course, we match you with a student so you can help them gain one of the most basic and important life skills - the ability to read. You and your student will meet in person once a week at a time and location that works best for you. We have 3 fully stocked tutoring available at The Rotunda or you may meet in any public spot such as a library, community center, or school. Please note: tutoring may not take place in a home or private setting.

And throughout tutoring we've got your back - we provide all the materials and supplies needed, and you receive ongoing support through monthly mentoring sessions, periodic workshops, and dedicated staff.

DTP tutors come from all walks of life and range in age from college students to retirees. What they have in common is the passion, purpose and patience to turn struggling readers into thriving students. And they are the reason behind our students' successes: the high school graduations, honor rolls, nursing careers. The book club memberships, college admissions, master's degrees. The trade certifications, apprenticeships, jobs promotions. The confidence, accomplishment, and pride.

We invite you to join us and be part of their success stories!
