Surge for Water Governing Board Member

Surge for Water is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that invests in communities with safe water, sanitation, hygiene and menstrual health solutions to help end the cycle of poverty. Surge has impacted over 1,000,000 people in 12 countries and is actively working in – Haiti, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Uganda.

The Board of Directors is responsible for high-level strategy, oversight, and governance of the organization as well as support of the Executive Director. All Board Members are expected to be an advocate for Surge’s mission and to secure resources that will help deliver the strategic plan. Commitment includes:

• A minimum of one (1) three-year term. Eligible for re-election.
• Participation in monthly Board meetings (virtual and in-person)
• Participation in at least one (1) committee
• Time commitment of approximately 6-10 hours/quarter
• Individually contribute or raise funds to meet give/get.

Qualifications:

Surge is at a critical stage of growth. Board members can lead the organization through the next stages. Ideal candidates will have experience in the following areas:

• Strategy and leadership experience in business, government or the nonprofit sector
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for Surge’s mission
• A natural affinity for cultivating relationships and building community among diverse individuals 
• Ability to connect Surge to resources (funding, materials, people) and partnerships
