    Write online university course in “Contemporary Diplomacy”

    Volunteering Opportunity for “Contemporary Diplomacy”

    We have just launched the development of our course “Contemporary Diplomacy” (part of “Political Science”) and we are looking for individuals who are passionate about learning and helping others earn academic knowledge.

    About the course:

    This course looks at the academic perspective of Diplomacy; therefore, it’s not about teaching the student how to be a diplomat, but rather it highlights the characteristics of modern diplomacy. The 15-week course starts with some historical aspects of diplomacy that are still of interest today and continues with explaining the forms and practices and actors of modern diplomacy.

    Due to the sensitive nature of the field of Politics in general, it is important to understand that this course does not examine contemporary case studies. This is to make sure that everyone feels welcome to work on and learn from our course, no matter their national or religious background.

    About the placement

    As a volunteer of PEOI’s course on Contemporary Diplomacy, your duties will be the following:

    · Gathering sources for the author to write the text depending on the current needs and your interests;

    · Gathering Creative Commons media files to be added to the course;

    · Summarising and creating questions when a text is ready (only for volunteers who have completed advanced academic studies in Diplomacy);

    · Communicating live or via PEOI’s forum with the author and other volunteers about the development of the course

    This project mainly consists of online work, but you are free to look for sources at your academic or municipal library.

    What you can earn from working with us

    Work with PEOI is voluntary and free, but there is a number of benefits that you will gain:

    · Development of your research skills;

    · Development of your computing skills;

    · Enlargement of your international professional network;

    · An addition of international nature to your CV, showing your enthusiasm and passion.

    Your skills and experience

    · Holding a degree in International Relations or being and International Relations student.

    · Holders of a degree in Diplomacy are highly desired, at any level of study. If you are still a student of such a degree, please feel welcome to apply!

    · Retired or active career diplomats are welcome and highly desirable.

    · You must have fluency in written English.

    · You need access to an Internet connection.

    · HTML skills are desirable, but not necessary.

    · You must have the ability to locate non-biased sources that constitute worthy research material.

    · Literacy in referencing management software is desirable, as it will help you store and track your sources and help the author use them properly.

    · As a volunteer of Political Science at PEOI, it is paramount that you can demonstrate tolerance and respect towards all your teammates, no matter their national, religious or sexual background.

    How to Apply

    In order to apply, please send a CV and short cover letter to pettroff@peoi.org
