The national public affairs television program, “Common Ground with Jane Whitney,” which will be filmed monthly at Wamogo Regional High School in Litchfield, CT starting in May, is looking for volunteers.
The show, which covers the most critical issues facing the country, is produced by Conversations On the Green (COG), a local non-profit and is looking for passionate, creative, and innovative volunteers who will work to assist with various tasks on the day of live shows.
The show, which is recorded live and then broadcast on PBS stations around the country, tries to foster continuing exchanges between Americans and nationally known experts. The discussions are designed to promote awareness and understanding of the complex issues that dominate the headlines and to shore up tolerance and unity through civic education and community engagement.
This volunteer work is an opportunity to learn about current affairs and assist the production of a national television program by supporting the event day operations. Event day volunteers can help for as many events as they wish.
The first event day is on Sunday, May 15th with "Common Ground's" season premiere, "Fury: America's Uncivil War." The panel will include Rep. Jamie Raskin, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, Dr. Barbara Walter, and Anthony Scaramucci. The discussion will center around the need for tolerance amidst America's growing mood of disunion and anger - a theme that will shape the remainder of "Common Ground's" tenth season.
