Food and Health Network Program Assistant

Summer 2023-Summer 2024, full-time

Please note: this is an AmeriCorps position; somewhere in-between a job and a volunteer opportunity, but not fully either. VISTA members are paid a living allowance of $17,600 and can receive either an education award (to be used on tuition or qualitied loans) of $6,495 OR an end of service stipend of $1500.

The Food and Health Network Program Assistant VISTA will advance communications, resource development, and capacity-building to support the Food and Health Network Program (FaHN), and community food projects across an eight county region. The VISTA will work closely with FaHN staff, including the Director, Farm to School Coordinator, and Food as Medicine Coordinator to develop coordinated annual communication and education strategies that enhance food security and local food access initiatives.

The FaHN Program Assistant VISTA will assist with resource development through annual fundraising campaigns, and grant research and writing. The VISTA will also work closely with community partners to build capacity, and participate in county-based anti-hunger task forces’ and food councils.

A college education is preferred but not required. Candidates must also satisfy the National Criminal History Check.
