We need volunteers to teach HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and PHP (experience with 2 of the three is fine). Foundational to intermediate-level skills are our primary focus. A large part of our organizational mission is community improvement and uplift, and to that end, we need volunteers and formally trained, or self-taught coders and designers to share knowledge and expertise with our program participants. We consider these particular skills as entry points to front-end and backend website design/development. By providing access in demographically low-income and marginalized communities, we hope to mitigate the persistent challenges of unemployment, under-employment, and chronic poverty, as well as raise STEM education and career awareness. FYI: Not all of our participants or locations are low-income. As a point of clarity, we are not only committed to providing access to these skills, but we are also committed to generating higher interest in coding and design through forums where program participants and the wider communities engage with professionals and experts in the field. Our volunteer opportunity Dallas, Texas (Oak Cliff), with additional sites to become available throughout the year. If you are interested in volunteering please consider the location. IMPORTANT: This is strictly a volunteer opportunity; however, we will provide a tax-deductible in-kind donation contribution receipt for your records. We are currently seeking coders/designers to volunteer twice a month at The Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy in Dallas, Texas.
