IT Technician

Summary

We are looking for technically skilled candidates who want to contribute to Straight Talk Clinic’s mission of empathic mental health counseling by joining us as a Volunteer IT Technician. The IT Tech will be a point of reference for technological queries, help transfer and remove information from hard drives, and assist in ensuring the optimal performance of electronic systems. As the IT Tech will be interacting with and listening to technical issues from various departments and management teams, this volunteer is expected to have good communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of a wide range of technical systems and problems are not expected, but the IT Tech is expected to be willing to research and learn to supplement their knowledge. Straight Talk Clinic operates in accordance with the latest CDC guidelines: all visitors and employees must wear masks, be screened, and have their temperatures checked. Our team is always considerate of social distancing and are committed to reducing infection risks by disinfecting surfaces and wearing masks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Install and configure hardware and software components, updating as needed
• Disassemble hard drives from computer towers and wipe data off hardware
• Assist with technical hardware installation, such as restored hard drives
• Install Windows programs to computers and upgrade obsolete software versions 
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
• Ensure smooth performance of wireless networks and printer/copier connections
• Coordinate with IT Manager to find solutions for any IT related issues
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner
• Must be dependable and punctual
• Respect and maintain the confidentiality of Straight Talk Clinic’s volunteers, partners, and donors
• Know how to wipe hard drives and reinstall needed programs 
• Must be able to remove hard drives and reconnect once they are wiped clean
