The Grandmothers Village Project is a not-for-profit organization founded to uphold and provide respect, honor, and care for our Elders, centering on our Grandmothers. Our mission is to foster a healthy and sustainable environment; promote social, economic, environmental, housing, food, and spiritual justice, and strengthen democracy for our BIPOC Elder Women/Grandmothers, and Grandfathers.
Board of Directors Statement of Purpose:
Our board members are pivotal in supporting GVP through mission-based leadership, financial oversight, enhancing public standing, and ensuring legal integrity.
Individual Board Member Responsibilities:
Length of Terms: Board Members will serve a three-year term, with a review after the first year, and eligibility to renew at the end of each term.
Frequency of Board Meetings:
Monthly board meetings and quarterly review meetings, unless otherwise indicated (virtual). There may be other considerations (events, special projects, etc.) that require meetings.
Remuneration:
Service on GVP’s Board of Directors is voluntary and unpaid, with reimbursement for costs incurred during board activities.
Fundraising:
Board Members should prioritize GVP in their philanthropic efforts and help solicit contributions from foundations, individuals, and organizations. While financial contributions are not mandatory, annual donations commensurate with one’s capacity are encouraged.
