The Sentinel by Yuvoice is a nonprofit, international platform with a diverse team of over 100 individuals from 25+ countries. We are growing the largest citizen journalism network: The Sentinel Press Corps. This group of ordinary humans from every region of the world eagerly covers the events they live through and the experiences they have. We are dedicated to fostering civic engagement and promoting social justice through a unique social media experience. At The Sentinel by Yuvoice, we strive to reshape news media into a tool for education, empowerment, and societal change.

Overview

We are seeking a talented, detail-oriented UI/UX Designer to create industry-leading designs for our platform across mobile and web. This role involves producing sleek, modern, and highly usable interfaces in light and dark modes, ensuring consistency and a first-class user experience. You will collaborate closely with developers and other stakeholders to translate requirements into intuitive and visually engaging designs.

Responsibilities

• Design mobile and web interfaces for our platform, delivering both light and dark mode versions.
• Create user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that clearly illustrate functionality and design intent.
• Produce high-fidelity, industry-standard designs that align with our brand identity and product vision.
• Work with product and development teams to ensure smooth handoff of assets and design specifications.
• Conduct design reviews to maintain visual and functional consistency across the platform.
• Stay updated on UI/UX best practices, trends, and emerging design technologies.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing for both mobile and web platforms.
• Strong portfolio showcasing sleek, modern, and user-friendly designs.
• Proficiency with industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
• Experience designing in both light and dark themes.
• Solid understanding of UX principles, responsive design, and accessibility standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SaaS, social, or community-driven platforms.
• Familiarity with design systems and component libraries.
• Ability to create thorough design documentation.
