Kitty Kare

Many of the cats at Catnip Casa Cat Refuge need time and attention to become more trusting of people. Others need the stimulation of someone to run a laser light or operate da' bird for exercise. Still others, need socialization to begin further their taming for household living. They need exposure to other people, lots of loves, and playtime.

All volunteers must be over 18. The hours available are Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday, from 1 pm to 4 pm. It is not necessary to be here all of those days and hours, but you must be able to work onsite during those times.

This opportunity is all about spending quality time with the kitties. No cleaning, no medicating, no office work--just play with cats. We provide toys and help you get to know them. Most will need time to get used to you. They need to adjust to a variety of people to be adoptable or to do well in foster care. This is why the job is actually very important. No special skills are needed except a love and respect for all cats.

If you are an experienced cat person, you will also enjoy some of our shyest kitties that need lots of encouragement to socialize.

Because of we have large condos and need to interact with the kitties on their terms, you should be comfortable on the floor, kneeling, bending, and going through fairly narrow doors into the condos and indoor catio areas. There may be steps and uneven surfaces in some areas. You must be able to work with others well, follow directions, and maintain confidentiality. We require a short orientation and a volunteer agreement.
