    Job summary

    We are seeking a Grant Writer. If you have 3+ years of experience in grant writing, a Bachelor’s degree, and are seeking an organization whose mission you can believe in, here’s a role where you can apply your talents to help us achieve our goals

    The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, developing, and preparing grant proposals to corporations and foundations, federal contracts, and government grants. As a key member of the Team, this position helps our organization meet its annual fundraising goals. The Grant Writer works in partnership with the NPO Founder to successfully apply for funding opportunities for programmatic initiatives, report on program outcomes, and share our organization’s story from a strengths-based perspective.

    The ideal candidate has demonstrated success securing grants from foundations and institutional funders. We are also seeking candidates who enjoy storytelling through grants; have experience grant-writing/fundraising within the human services field; are committed to advancing education; UN SDGs; economic, environmental, and health equity; and are passionate about our organization’s mission.

    Responsibilities

    Researching and identifying prospective funding partners in alignment with our organization’s mission and one or more specific programs or initiatives.

    Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations.

    Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.

    Assembling and submitting grant requests including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.

    Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers.

    Maintaining calendar to ensure timely submission of a letter of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.

    Ensuring prompt acknowledgment of foundation gifts and individual donations.

    Requirements

    3+ years in nonprofit fundraising or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to write and edit persuasively.

    Driven to provide exemplary customer service to funders.

    Strong prioritization and time management skills; ability to meet competing deadlines.

    Ability to translate programmatic information and data into concise, compelling, asset-based, and mission-centered narratives.

    Understanding of budgets and ability to understand organization’s finances and financial systems. Strong attention to detail.

    Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.
