English Tutors for Ukrainian Refugees

Work with Ukrainian refugees to improve their English skills through one-on-one or group lessons. Volunteers are needed to help tutor Ukrainian refugees to improve their English to help them adapt to a new culture and country. Lessons can take place in designated spaces provided by the Slavic Refugee and Immigrant Services Organisation (SRISO).

Project Requirements & Important Notes

Key Responsibilities:

Tutors will help participants with conversational English, vocabulary building, and practical communication skills.

Required Skills/Experience:

Must be fluent in English and have a passion for teaching or mentoring

No formal teaching experience is required, but patience and strong communication skills are essential

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months

Onboarding Process: Background check

Physical Requirements: None. This project is able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations and all tutoring can be online

The mission of the Slavic Refugee and Immigrant Services Organisation is to help Ukrainian refugees in the U.S. They are dedicated to providing basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter and jobs while raising awareness about Ukraine in the United States.
