Women Build Durham:
When it comes to the pandemic, it has been said that we are all in the same storm, but not in the same boat. That is especially true for lower-income families, many of them the essential workers who helped get us through the most challenging times of the past few years. We now find ourselves facing an intense housing affordability crisis, with Durham Region becoming one of the most expensive real estate markets in all of Canada, making it close to impossible for these parents to find a safe, affordable home to raise their kids. The result is that many lower-income families live in an overcrowded space, usually far from work and school. As we begin to step out and come together again, we want you to reconnect with each other on a build site and rediscover the power of community. It’s time to build a better, more inclusive and liveable post-pandemic Durham Region for everyone. The pandemic won’t hold us back anymore.
