Virtual Bilingual ESL Assistant (Volunteer)

Senior Persons Living Connected (SPLC) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization. SPLC's basket of services, programs and healthcare support complex and wide-ranging social and health needs of diverse individuals and their caregivers. People can access supports that are tailored to the individual, including: geriatric services, addictions and mental health services, care management and coordination, in-home supports, transportation, exercise and active living classes, health and wellness education and clinics.

Position Summary

The volunteer will be assisting the ESL Teacher via zoom during weekly classes.

Position Description

• Assist the ESL teacher via Zoom while teaching our senior clients English. This will involve translating the teacher’s words from Cantonese/ Mandarin to English when necessary. If the ESL teacher is absent, the possibility of leading a lesson may occur.

Qualifications

• Teaching experience with English, ESL English experience would be preferred
• Must speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English fluently
• Good communication and verbal skills
• Experience connecting virtually through ZOOM
• Punctual, must attend virtual class on time
• Able to document attendance and report to supervisor
