Position Summary: Reporting to the Chair, the Marketing & Communications Director leads the function responsible for positioning Statistics Without Borders as a recognized global force for positive change and maximizing the number of high-quality clients with whom SWB engages. The Marketing & Communications Director also serves on the Executive Committee and will contribute meaningfully to strategic SWB work that extends beyond marketing and communications.
Responsibilities:
• You will build and activate a repeatable process to articulate, quantify, and communicate SWB’s impact across its projects, clients, and volunteers. • You will leverage marketing & communications to empower SWB to significantly and sustainably scale up its number of projects per year, including new channels of demand generation.
• You will integrate demand generation, content, and branding activities seamlessly across the full suite of SWB work.
• You will build out a partnerships function that cultivates high-quality, mutually beneficial relationships between SWB and other organizations.
• You will build and maintain a strategic roadmap for the above, including goals and metrics to assess progress toward goals.
• You will serve on the Executive Committee and work with the Executive Committee to set strategy, goals, and objectives for SWB.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated in a variety of ways, a passion for and commitment to SWB’s mission and vision is critical.
The following experiences are highly desired as strong indicators of success in the role:
• You have previous experience leading demand generation, content, or partnership teams.
• You have built and executed branding and marketing strategies, including change management required to implement new plans across teams.
• You have demonstrated experience creating fast, sustainable growth via marketing & communications.
• You are comfortable experimenting with new processes.
The following experiences are also desired:
• You have experience building corporate or executive communications like annual reports and leading annual meetings.
• You have experience working with not-for-profit organizations, leading volunteers, and/or leading teams across time zones.
Marketing Platforms
Required working familiarity (at a supervisory level) with web publishing, CRM such as HubSpot or similar, and SEO/Social.
Reporting Relationships:
The Marketing & Communications Director serves on the Executive Committee and reports to the Chair.
Commitment:
8-10 hours per week
Location:
This position is fully remote and can be based in any time zone. Communication takes place online.
Term:
Directors serve an indefinite term, as established in the SWB Charter. Candidates should plan to serve for at least 1 year; ideal candidates plan to serve for 2 years.
