The Math Circles of Chicago creates opportunities for all children across Chicago to develop a passion for mathematics.
Math Circles of Chicago achieves its mission by providing free, unique math enrichment programs for 5th–12th grade students of diverse backgrounds.
MC2 currently hosts eight hubs across the city, 20 after school programs for individual schools, as well as online sessions. We are particularly looking for new teachers to help out in Saturday programs that we are launching at south side high schools with our partner, MAPSCorps. Our mission is to provide access to math enrichment to any interested 5th to 12th grader in the city.
We are seeking lead teachers and volunteers. Lead teachers are paid a stipend to run 75 to 90 minute sessions up to 14 times a year. These sessions occur on weekday afternoons or on Saturdays. Volunteers assists those lead teachers without pay.
The teachers we seek should have a strong interest and considerable curiosity in mathematics. They also believe that to create a more just society, we need to provide all children the opportunity to engage in rich mathematics. Our teachers are typical experienced school teachers, graduate students in math, people in STEM fields who enjoyed mathematics in their schooling, or others who have experience in math enrichment programs.
