Description:

Program/Fellowship Description

Meridian's Customized Exchanges Division (CE) implements short-term programs to build the capacity of emerging leaders in a specific subject area in partnership with the State Department, U.S. Embassies overseas, local and international NGOs, and foreign governments. Meridian designs these exchanges for students, higher education officials, NGO workers, politicians, diplomats, and journalists, tailoring each project to the participant's and funder's goals. This fall, the CE Journalism and Media Fellowship will support the implementation of reporting tours and trainings for foreign journalists to enhance their professional capacity, build networks, and combat global disinformation campaigns.


Duties and Responsibilities Could Include:

· Assisting with logistical and administrative coordination of in-person exchanges

· Drafting program email correspondence as directed by supervisor

· Supporting virtual production of events on Zoom or other virtual platforms

· Supporting post-program follow-up, monitoring & evaluation, and data management/analytics

· Updating program databases and informational documents

· Completing all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner

· Participation in Fellowship cohort activities

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be/have:

· An undergraduate or graduate student or recent graduate in international studies or a related field, or the equivalent in experienceThis is an internship-level position.

· A highly motivated self-starter with superb communication and organizational skills, and high attention to detail

· Strong inter-cultural communication skills; maturity, cultural sensitivity, and tact suitable for working with individuals from around the world

· Experience living/studying abroad and/or foreign language skills

Applicants are required to:

· Commit 16-29 hours per week to the fellowship

· Be fluent in verbal and written English

· Be proficient in the MS Office Suite

· Have a residence in the DC, MD, or VA area. Although this is a hybrid position, fellows must be able to come into Meridian's DC office on an as-needed basis.
