Duke Environmental Leadership Master of Environmental Management (DEL-MEM)

Nuestro Programa

Our professional master's degrees train environmental leaders for impactful work in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

At the Nicholas School, we're driven by the need to restore and preserve the world’s environmental resources while adapting to a changing climate and a growing population.

Our two-year, on-campus Master of Environmental Management (MEM) and Master of Forestry (MF) programs provide students the opportunity to engage with others within a vibrant community, located in one of the country’s most active environmental cities – Durham, NC. Adjacent to Duke's main campus is Duke Forest, with over 7,000 acres for teaching, research, and recreation. Students may also study in “America’s Favorite Town” (Travel & Leisure), Beaufort, NC, at the Duke University Marine Lab. At either location, you will engage with others who are similarly striving to make a positive impact on the world. Students may pursue a dual MEM/MF degree, combining a MEM program area with our SAF-accredited Master of Forestry, and complete both in as few as five semesters. Our graduates are prepared for varied environmental management careers in Federal/State positions, private industry, NGO's, and consulting firms.

Our Duke Environmental Leadership Master of Environmental Management (DEL-MEM) program offers working professionals the opportunity to continue their education, advance their careers, and become leaders in their organizations. Students take coursework online in a cohort-model sequence, and come together for five placed-based sessions during their study. The innovative, flexible format of this hybrid program lets participants maintain their careers and personal lives while earning a master’s degree over the course of two years (four semesters).
