Passionate about health care? Education? Criminal Justice? Housing? Temple University’s Master of Public Policy program builds technical competency alongside a sophisticated understanding of the policy process, empowering you with the skills you need to create social change!
Build expertise in evaluating the effectiveness of government programs at the federal, state, and local levels. Develop the analytic skills to be able to formulate and assess public policies. Learn the “softer” skills of leadership and communicating your ideas in a political context. Whether you’re a recent college graduate or are already mid-career, Temple's MPP program will help you become a more effective advocate, manager, and leader. Our graduates are ready to address some of the biggest problems at the federal, state and local levels. Learn more or start your application today!
A public policy program with influence:
Members of our faculty bring years of academic and real-world experience to their teaching. They have backgrounds as policymakers; agency heads and supervisors; budget and finance managers; leaders of nonprofit organizations and consultants; and senior advisers to governors, mayors, and legislatures.
Outside the classroom, our professors work to address a wide variety of social issues and improve lives across the Greater Philadelphia region and throughout Pennsylvania. As a master of public policy student, you’ll be encouraged to engage with the world outside the classroom, empowering you to immediately affect change while learning new skills.
Flexible and Efficient Scheduling:
Evening and summer classes help you graduate in two years or less. You’ll have the flexibility to take your three elective courses at any Temple school and in any program. That means you can round out your nine core public policy courses by learning about policy domains of your choosing.
Earn an on-campus or online MPP:
The Master of Public Policy (MPP) program offers students an affordable education just steps from Philadelphia’s City Hall at Temple Center City. We offer evening classes to allow students to work during the day. Temple’s Online Master of Public Policy (OMPP) offers students the same curriculum and faculty as our on-campus MPP program, but with 100% online classes!

Lo Que Dicen Nuestros Estudiantes
As a Legislative Director for a State Senator, I am able to utilize skills and practices adopted through the MPP curriculum everyday. I am continually presenting policy analysis that must be accurate and turned around quickly. I was networking with students who have landed exciting opportunities in other state and local elected officials offices, and various local and state level agencies.
Tom Holyroyd, Master of Public Policy ‘18Temple's MPP Program gave me so many practical skills that I have been able to utilize in my role as Manager of Community Affairs. I feel prepared to manage and implement programs that serve my school community. What I love most about the program is its instructors who possess not only the academic foundation in their subject area, but also the professional experience on how the skills we learn can be applied in the real world.
Keshema Davidson, Master of Public Policy ‘20Being an MPP student has given me invaluable real-world experience in local policymaking. This has enabled me to expand my career not just in the policy world, but the nonprofit world as well.
